Whanaungatanga Event

This term our inquiry unit was whanaungatanga. Students in Room 2 got into groups and organised a whole school event with activities that promoted whanaungatanga within our school. Each group organised the activities and ran the event for groups of approximately 25 students.
There were a variety of different activities ranging from dance offs and chant competitions to chocolate river and water balloon dodgeball. Students were marked on how well they gave instructions, how clear their voice was and most importantly how well they reinforced positive behaviour with positive feedback.
Our next step would be to consistently model these positive behaviours in our school and look at ways to promote whanaungatanga in our community. We hope you enjoy our learning.

If you have time please check out students' individual blogs, they are on the left hand side of our class blog and have have more about what we are learning.

Measurement

This week we are working on measurement, area and perimeter. We identified things we wanted to measure then went out in groups to measure them. We still have some work to do to correctly read length but will continue to work on this tomorrow.

Hareruia

This term we have been learning a new waiata, Hareruia. We performed it after karakia at this mornings assembly. We are very proud to be able to share this with you and would like to make special mention to Susan and Siomita for their solo performances and to Jada and Kauri for welcoming us in. We would also like to thank all the whanau that showed up to tautoko us.

Papakura High Circus

We were lucky enough to have Papakura High in our school today. Their Year 11 & 12 drama class performed a play where each person was a members of a circus. There was a ringmaster, fortune teller, squirrel, clowns, acrobats and more. It was a very funny show.

Narrative Writing

We have been learning how to write interesting introductions that will hook the reader in. Here is an example of a piece that Jada completed. What do you think? We have added in the success criteria also, do you think she achieved this?
